Pfft, don’t even pretend you didn’t get psyched as soon as you saw the words “Homebrew” – I sure as hell did too!

If last years event was anything to go by, this year will be huge. Don’t believe me? Alright, just hear me out for a second – 14 countries, 8000 individual brewers, and 66,434 litres of beer sold. If that doesn’t blow your mind, I honestly don’t know what will.

Beer lovers, unite, and get thine asses down to Westside Acton Park tomorrow! Gates are open from 10am to 2pm, it’s going to be awesome.

If you’ve been conscious at some point during this week, you’ve probably gotten wind of the fight of the century this weekend between the two legends of Boxing – Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather. With good reason though, and without talking your ear off, here’re some interesting facts about the matchup:

Festivities kick off at 10:45, and even though the fight doesn’t start until 2pm, it might be worth getting in early to make sure you can grab a seat.

O’Malley’s is a pub that needs no introduction – it’s a favourite amongst the locals, for their delicious beer on tap [go a Kozy – always go a Kozy] and well-executed pub grub. Coverage starts at 11, but likewise with Zierholz – make sure you get in quick to grab a seat!

Want to catch the fight in a classy setting by the foreshore? Yeah, you’re after The Dock. Screens light up from 11am, with $10 Buffalo Chicken Wings and $15 Dock Style American Hot Dogs to get you in the mood. The place is guaranteed to be packed out, so make sure you call ahead on 6239 6333 to secure a seat – just make sure you get there before 11:30 or it’s up for grabs to the public!

If your palms get sweaty and your eye twitches when the words “LoL”, “Super Smash Bros” and “Cosplay” are uttered – Reload Bar is absolutely a place you should check out. It combines the joy of alcohol with the exuberance of indulging your inner child, and the latest offering they have on this weekend is set to do just that.

Head over at 6pm in costume if you’re keen on taking part in the Cosplay; there’s free entry for ANU Students [bring your ID!] and free pizza! Street Fighter, Super Smash Bros, and LoL tournaments will be running all night, but there’ll be plenty of other console and board games for those after a more mellowed night.
