There is plenty to do here in the Australian Capital on April 25, and we have come up with the perfect way to do it…

Where? Australian War Memorial, Treloar Crescent, Campbell, ACT 2612
Beginning with an (extremely) early start to the day, head down to the Australian War Memorial where the Dawn Service proceedings begin at 4.30am. As many will know, the Service is held in the early hours of the morning to pay tribute to the Australian and New Zealand soldiers that stood alert and armed when first light broke across the battlefield. Excerpts from past Australian soldiers’ diaries and letters will be read aloud, followed by 15mins of silence before the official ceremony begins at 5.30am. With a record 80,000 people expected to attend this year’s Service, it is well worth the early wake-up to share this momentous centenary celebration with a multitude of Australian comrades at your side.
… Buuut, if you aren’t able to will yourself awake before even the keenest of cyclists are lycra-ed up, the subsequent National Ceremony will begin at 10.15am. This service follows a traditional format including the National Anthem, Commemorative Address, the laying of wreaths, reading of hymns, sounding of the Last Post, and observation of a minute’s silence. A veteran’s march will follow, before the Ceremony concludes at 12.30pm.
